Natural Edge Spalted Pecan Dining Table
We recently had very special clients who were building a new house and were wanting Landers’ Studio to create a signature dining table for their new home. They envisioned a large table with beautiful grain and natural edges. We met with the clients at Berdoll Sawmill in Cedar Creek, TX, to select a board. They selected a 12-foot piece of spalted pecan with outstanding grain and averaging about 55’ in width.
The clients wanted a metal base for this spalted pecan table top and commissioned John Christensen to design and fabricate this base. We cut the larger board to create an 8-foot table top. After filling the spalting lines and voids with epoxy, we sanded the top repeatedly to finer and finer grits to maximize the sheen to reveal the luster of the rippling grain.
Being very special clients indeed, we know we will enjoy many a family dinner on their stunning and gracious dining table.
