Back to the Mirrored Wall Project

The steps for getting us to this stage of the project has been chronicled in previous project entries (just scroll down to view).  Now we are preparing for the mirrored glass to be glued to this curved  plywood form.  Before the mirrored and beveled glass could be attached, we had to create and attach a 3/8-inch wide Macassar ebony frame in this curved shape.   We used six thin strips to bend to the desired curve and laminated them together as shown in the above photograph.  When the glue and the shape was firm, we sanded the frame edges smooth and then glued this curved frame to the plywood form.  The ebony frame will then be finished in a high gloss lacquer.  After finishing, the framed plywood forms will receive the mirrored and beveled glass.
