Once a Mighty Oak.....
David and Elizabeth lost a beloved post oak tree in their yard and wanted to create a few treasures from its wood. They turned to Mark to see what he could fashion from the chunks of the trunk with beautiful grain figure. The post oak proved to be problematic in the drying process even though careful procedures were followed. The larger trunk sections were scaled down due to the excessive cracking. Mark was able to hollow out a small live-edge bowl and craft a 12-inch tall weed vase. Then he also carved a 10-inch acorn as a fitting tribute to their cherished tree. These works were a small, but meaningful project for us.
